Storage error?

1 replies 23 views Edited Jul 10, 2011

Hey, I think I have a little problem regarding the storage space on my PS3. It said that I have like 86 GB left out of 149 GB but I know that can't be true because I only have 6 PS1 classics, 2 PSP games, and 8 PSN/PS3 games. Almost all these games takes up no more than 1 or 2 GB and the biggest game I have on there so far is inFAMOUS which is 7 GB. I have no movies, photos, or music on there. I'm wondering if anyone knows what's up with this. Is it something I need to be concern about? Is it a glitch? Thanks!

To begin with a 160GB HDD, completely blank, inside the PS3 will show up as:

132GB / 149GB.

So your max space is around 132GB.

So from 132, you have 86.  So the PS3 thinks you're using 46GB.  That's quite a bit of space.

You can go through all your game data, and save data, and add up and see how much they actually are taking up.  Plus other things like Home reserve space (don't know how much but could be over 3GB).

In some cases, though, people add up their space, and it doesn't add up.  I'm not entirely sure what's up with that, but I would attribute it to reserved space like with what Home does.
