Basically my PS3 seems to function fine with games, dvds and blu ray dvds, except for only 1.
Prometheus Blu Ray . .
Originally, I put in the disc, it works fine, after about 15 mins it starts fast forwarding and skipping a bit. So I turn off playstation (normal way) and reboot. Disc will not load or show up on the PS3 (I can hear it spinning and a click but it just wont load).
Tried deleting the prometheus information in BD data and deleted any cache it had made in shared cache data. Rebooted and disc kept spinning but wouldnt load.
Brough disc back to the shop and they replaced it with a brand new one. they had told me there has been no issues with the discs (in case they got a faulty batch of discs).
I tried turning off internet connection which didnt seem to make a differance (as people said sometimes BD live can cause issues).
So i put in new Prometheus disc and it shows up and it loads up. It actually went straight to playback (was surprised as I thought I had deleted all the stuff from the previous copy), but while it played it would fast forward and skip, but it was playing for about 10 mins and I put it off to watch later . . Then when i reput in the disc it wouldnt work.
I would appreciate any tips or advice as I dont think the shop will beleive me that I happened to get the only 2 dodgy Blu rays in the store!

I don't think that the problem is the disk either. It is more likely a problem with your Blu-ray drive. It is possible that this is a dual-layer Blu-ray disk. It isn't unusual for a Blu-ray drive to work fine with single-layer Blu-ray disks, but have problems reading dual-layer disks; which require a more precise alignment of the optics.

It can just happen with extended use. Generally the Blu-ray drive needs to be replaced, or professionally repaired. It isn't trivial to do it yourself, but it has been done. Otherwise you can send the PS3 to Sony for repair, or to a third-party repair shop like Endless Electronics.
