So I'm basically having the same problems that everyone else is reporting. Games not loading, reboot not changing anything, etc. So I called Sony and just got a tracking e-mail from UPS letting me know when my coffin will be arriving. I am under warranty and have my receipt, but I really don't want to send my 80GB PS3 in and end up with the same problems when it comes back.
Nothing has been reported about a new update coming out to fix this problem and I haven't read much about anyone's experiences with 'repaired' PS3s.
So my question is, should I send my PS3 in or wait for the next update with fingers crossed?
I am somewhat facing the same dilemma though I must admit I don't have a receipt. It was a xmas gift and so far I've been unable to obtain a receipt
But receipt aside; what kills me is that most likely you'll get a refurb back. Now, I've always handled and treated my PS3 extremely well and it's in perfect condition. No scratches or anything. So knowing I could get a refurb back really worries me.
Has anyone here experiences with the refurbs? Do they look as new?
So I reloaded the PS3, and I am happy to report it is now reading SDVDs again. I have not yet tried BDs. This is definitely a HUGE improvement and I am very excited at this point!!!
