I recently purchased the official ps3 headset (comes with two parts; the headset and the usb adapter that allows it to be wireless). I misplaced the usb adapter rendering my $100 headset useless. My question is how can I replace it? I went to the retail store i purchased it at but the did not sell replacements, I went to gamestop with the same results. The associate told me to go to the Playstation site to look for it. After a brief recon of the site, I haven't found a way to purchase or replace my usb adapter for the headset.
Does anyone know what I can do to replace it? Any help is greatly appreciated!
This is what it looks like^^
for this headset^^
Try calling Sony Customer Support. The number and hours is at the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page. I imagine if it were available, it would be as a service part only and not sold in stores.
No, the headset does not use Bluetooth. I don't think there is a Bluetooth profile sophisticated enough for virtual 7.1 audio.
Isn't there a manual or paperwork for this? There should be contact information provided. Maybe including information to order parts?
You need to talk to the Sony repair center. They may have factory-reconditioned headset adapters that they can sell you. Sony doesn't sell the USB adapter for the stereo headset separately, so it didn't manufacture extras to sell.
I have the same problem here: lost my USB Wireless Adapter for my Sony Wireless Stereo Headset. I called SCEA Consumer Service at the (800) 345-7669 number located on the box. They informed me that Sony does not offer a replacement Wireless Adapter and I would need to purchase a new Headset. This is unreasonable. So I talked to a superviser only to be told the same thing and that there is no other solution. So, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and I thought I would tell you all the same.
So, by breaking or losing your Wireless Adapter, this creates a wonderful waste of a wireless headset.
I was told that you can connect to PS3/PC/Mac via USB-mini cable, but I have yet to get this to work. Everything I have read has confirmed that the USB port on the Wireless Headset is for charging only.
This is very disappointing, Sony. What a waste of a great product...
This appears to be common issue...
