PS3 not reading disks

I have a G01 40GB system that I bought used, was not reading disks. Usually it's a simple laser cleaning or replacement, but this time not so. I've replaced the laser and deck, used safe menu options 3 & 4 to try and get it to read. I've also tried a different HDD with no success. Any help with the problem would be great. Also it's been updated to 4.31 firmware.
