I have an original 60 gb fat ps3 and lately it's become absolutely unusable on certain games. Battlefield 3 freezes like crazy. To the point where I can't even play on half of the maps. On top of that I recently bought the Red Dead Redemption GOTY edition. It freezes every 15 minutes. I had an inkling that it may be the disc reader or something like that but I even went as far as buying the PSN verson of RDR and it still freezes. Overheating is not an issue. I can literally play first thing in the morning for 10 minutes and have it freeze on me before it even gets a chance to warm up.
However there are other games like Fifa, Skyrim, and Gran Turismo 5 that work fine with no problems what so ever. I've rebuilt the database countless times, I've restored the file system. I've done just about everything I can possibly think of. Any ideas as to what may be wrong with it? Or should I just chalk it up as a loss and get a new system?
