PS3 Fat CechG01 blu ray died...

1 replies 105 views Edited Nov 4, 2012

My blu ray drive won't read discs anymore and I tried to replace it with a drive I got on ebay. However, the logic board wasn't compatible with the drive I was sent so I'm in the process of trying to return it. With that being said, if I can't get it working myself, can I send it in to Sony for repair or am I SOL? I figured I'd try fixing it myself since I bought the system around 4 years ago. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You can send it to Sony for repair.  As long as your attempt to replace the drive yourself did not cause damage to the hardware, Sony will replace the drive with a compatible one for the standard repair fee for that problem.
