I hadn't had my system on for a couple months and it needed an update.  I went ahead and did the update and as always it says the system will restart after the update is complete. My system never rebooted.  Now when I turn it on I don't get a picture and after several minutes it shuts off and just has a red blinking light.  I off course tried to reset the output but when I hold my finger on the power button it doesn't triple beep it just shuts back off.  System worked fine before this update.

Sony really should tell us what they are addressing instead of a generic "it's not mandatory, but you should update..."

Does this fix what 4.30 broke? The trophies no longer save your sorting preference which is extremely annoying!

How about an update that lets you sort games alphabetically? That would be the update of the century.

It syncs the trophy collection faster but there are bars when you open it and close it... Same bars that appear when a software update is installing. Maybe in the next update they won't be there. I think it's a glitch, because the what's new section doesn't show bars when you open it or close it. The new store update is missing as well. Can't wait for 4.35!!

4.31 killed the ability to luanch a game on inserted BR Disk from What's New? What is wrong with you folks?

4.31 killed my online frends list and profile... well maybe not killed but i cant acess mine or my frends profiles, i get error messages yet sometimes i can still log in to psn , and i have such great connection i can still surf web on the browser just fine., this system is only a few months old , and was working fine just a few days ago... why sony, why..

updates provide best possible online experience perhaps. but with every update comes the possible introduction of the overall function limiting sony bricks. like the other os removal  and total destruction of current instalations of linux on the 1st of april 2010. also the introduction of the media limiting program cinevia, sony even lied to me about cinevia was not introduced via a update. so tell me why i should blindly trust sony that every update is in the best interests of their customers.

I have a 1st gen 60GB PS3 running 4.31 with a Western Digital 2.5" SATA 500GB HDD.

Yesterday my system was working fine, but today it takes forever to sign in to PSN.  Once online my apps and games work, but I can't play online and I can't go back to the XMB to message or check on friends' status without crashing my system.

Twice the dumb machine has locked up, claiming I am not signed in, then it was fine.   Until it stopped in the middle of a Black Ops game..  Happens anymore and it will get recycled.   No more games for me, this should never happen if the quailty was there.
