PS3 has been working fine for as long as I can remember (just watched a Blu on it about two days ago). I boot it up about 20 min. ago and get a prompt to download the new 4.10 firmware. I do so. It finished the download and the screen goes black, presumably to restart and install. Only the black screen hasn't gone away. What's more, the four lights on the controller not connected to via USB were flashing until I hit the power button, and then they went out. Neither controller can connect now.
Don't know if I should attempt a hard reset to do it again or what but I'm not sure what to do in this instance. This is the first time that any console of mine has been bricked by an update.
The same thing happened to me but when i called to complain all they had to say was "It can't be SONY's Fault, now pay us $130 to fix it" when i spoke to support they told be that there 'ARE NO PROBLEMS'. Don't let them fool you, they force us to make an update that is causing PS3 to fail and then forces us to pay more. Time to report them to the better business buerea
That old thread doesn't really help me. Although in it, someone says that unless your console restarted to a yellow light or black screen, it's not the FW. I guess in this case it is the firmware.
Dont feel bad the same thing just happend to me when i downloaded the 4.1 update i played a couple games of CoD and the playstation went black and all i got was a flashing red light it worked fine till then guess alot of old models are having the same problem i bet the new models are still going strong.
