Ever since Sunday morning, my ps3 has been displaying a message saying that my my file system is corrupted and that it will need to restore. Everytime i try to restore, it reaches 100 percent and then the screen goes black and stays there. i have left it for over an hour or two and nothing has happened. Looking on other forums and websites, i have also tried going into safe mode and trying to restore file system there and still nothing. After awhile, i also tried the restore ps3 system to try to format all of my data and nothing still happens after it completes the restore. All of the options either freeze once pressed or screen goes black when completed. Also to mention, after i tried restoring ps3 system for first time, the ps3 does not start up normally as it would and directly takes me to a black screen saying that my file system is corrupted and so forth.
Please let me know if I should send in my ps3 for repairs which i was told by the sony support that it would cost roughly 100 dollars, or buy a new HDD as ive seen in other forums, to fix this problem. I will take any advice right now and try anything to fix my system. Thanks.
Solved! Go to Solution.
If your PS3 isn't even allowing you to do a full restore, then I would just send it in to Sony for repair/replacement.
The sooner you send it in, the sooner you will get a PS3 back. Unless you want to buy a new HDD and install it yourself.
The choice is yours. Either way, unless you backed them up in the past, all your save files are lost.
And if you don't know already, when you get it fixed, you will at least be able to re-download all your purchased goods from your "My Downloads" list in the XMB.
You may also want to deactivate your account before sending it in / replacing your HDD and restoring your PSN ID.

Good luck. I hope you get fixed/replaced in no-time.
