[ Edited ]

Why does the PS3 have to be on to charge? Whenever I have it off it doesn't. i recently started leaving it on and it stays on.

Also, why is my Trophy card below not updating?

There is no power to the USB ports when the PS3 is in standby mode so controllers can only be charged when the PS3 is on.

The official Sony trophy card has had some 'issues' of late, you're aware though that it is not an auto-updating trophy card, you have to sync it yourself both on your PS3 & then this website for the new tropies to show?

I have synced both so it must be this problem you are speaking of.

Also, Is it faster to power my controller by PC and can I go it while the computer is in sleep mode. It is still on, I think.

Faster?, not sure, but I think you're right, the USB ports are still 'active' if the PC is sleping so yes, the charge can continue.

The only thing to be aware of is that sometimes you have to re-sync the DS3's with the PS3.
