I really can't see Sony charging us for cross game voice chat. If they do then it won't be a universal feature like it is on the Xbox 360 because if it where a universal feature then everyone would have access to it as it would be part of the PS3 OS.
If Sony charge us for cross game chat, then it will more than likely be added via an external software app which would perhaps need to accessed after the game has been loaded via in-game XMB. That is the only way Sony could add a chargable cross game chat feature on PSN.

As I said in another thread, it's possible that SONY is going to pay Microsoft for the usage of the XGC System. To do this, we'll have to pay for it somehow.
Well if this is the case then I won't be impressed. I realise the money has to come from somewhere, but it's extremely unfair on PS3 users to have to pay for something that you can get for free somewhere else.
But do we know for sure if Microsoft has a patent for cross game voice chat? The last I heard they haven't.
