AVI Playback Audio Dropout After v3 Firmware Update

We recently updated our PS3 80GB fat model to the latest v3 firmware.  The unit is connected to our TV via HDMI cable, and has functioned exceptionally well with all previous versions of the firmware.  We have been using the PS3 to play AVI videeos which has worked well.

After the update, we have found that Xvid encoded AVI's are having playback problems, specificially audio drop outs.  An AVI which prior to the update played flawlessly will now play however every 20 seconds or so the audio will just stop, silence, for 4 or 5 seconds while the video itself continues to play.

Is there anybody else who has experienced this problem?

Bump... the 3.10 firmware updated hasn't resolved the problem either.  Anybody else experiencing this?

Re: AVI Playback Audio Dropout After v3 Firmware Update

this has sort of happened to me.  except the audio was missing right from the beginning (although it works fine on my computer).  it has only happened with one video, so it could be the file itself that the PS3 codecs don't like.
