Yes. You're the only one. I love the update. My disc games work even better. Less lag.

nope mines doing the exact same thing and its**bleep** me off . sony owes me 400$ if they dont fix this

Just experienced the same issue. Updated then went to play black ops 2 and it won't read the disc. Tried a blue ray movie won't read the disc. Seriously ticked off at the moment

Any news? Same problem for me. I tried every option in the safe mode, nothing works. I always took care of my PS3, I don't want to buy another one because AN UPDATE "destroyed it". Because of the update 4.31, I can't play games, CD or DVDs. Also check out a forum I found! Just type on Google: PS3 system software 4.31 not reading discs.

Same problem here.  Anyone have anything yet?  I'm about to go trade mine in for a new one if I can't.  Absolutely ridiculous.

If you buy a new PS3 you still can have the same issue. I've seen people who bought the Superslim PS3 amd had this issue too. Wait for a new update before spending your money on Sony's repair service. And I didn't get an answer from my message to the support contact :/

4.31 update is flawed.  Some games will load and some will not.  The ones that don't load will show no disc icon in Games at XMB and the disc icon on the top right will spin for a long time.  There are so many posts about 4.31 and the problems people are facing.  Where is the fix to this update?

I chat with 2 Sony reps and got the answer of paying $99 for repairs.  They said updates do not break the system and that it has been tested before released.  Please fix this problem soon Sony.
