PS2 XMAS MORNING BLUES

10 replies 8 views Edited Dec 25, 2002
Well it sounds like we are not the only family having a BLUE Xmas thanks to SONY.  I guess we will all be in line tomorrow RETURNING PS2s.  I think the boys want to go to Gamecube.  Are AM started fine.  All the games worked, then it froze during Needforspeed2.  Ever since then it has been going down hill.  All the games started freezing, and now it will not even get to the main menu without a disk.  So, everyone is going down hill in this household for Xmas.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. It's brand new, you can return it first thing tomorrow & get a new one from whatever store you bought it from, I'm sure of it.

Whatever system you end up with, if the store offers an extended warranty, I suggest you get it.

Is it getting proper ventilation? Are you moving it when it is playing games?

I would say go for the Gamecube or Xbox.  My PS2 is not even a year old and it already needs service that will cost over $100.00. Stay away from the PS2.

There is Zero truth in that. They will fix -some- problems for free. But a blanket statement saying they'll always fix your PS2 for free is false.

What about the "disc read error" problem? Will they fix that fgor free? I can no longer watch DVD's or play PSOne games on my PS2, and it is not even one year old yet.

best you can do is call and lets them know what's up and see if you can work something out with them, they may waive the costs they may not, it may depend on a number of factors.

Thanks for the guidance, but lucky us, now we get to spend the day after xmas standing in line, and then hoping it may or may not work.  It seems like Sony would be doing something to keep their customers HAPPY.  All I see is Bah Humbug.

We are ensuring it is properly ventilated, the fan is running, and it is not in the sun.  But I do think it is a heating problem because the longer we keep it on the worse the symptoms get.

So tomorrow we stand in the long lines.
