Honestly looking back it wasnt the smartest thing, but my PS2 wasnt reading the blue discs, and that damn disc for the HDD was a blue disc, so unless I got that thing working no HDD for me, which wouldnt of affected me now looking back on it, because nothing uses it!...But anyway there are screws all over your PS2, some covered by the little padding, but get a little screwdriver and take all those out, and be careful though you can never say it broke on its own because that validation seal is broken then. But then take the top off and clean that piece inside. Its surprising how dirty it gets in there, anyway I went to town on it, and my baby has been running very nicely with blue discs ever since. I never had any issues in general, just didnt read those bad boy blue discs like it did a few years back, but since then its money. Anyway I have the opening day model, aka the first model ever. Anywho thats how you could do it to save money. Otherwise go with the b!tch way and buy something to clean it for you....Haha kidding but come on it never hurts to put a little elbow grease into keeping up the system that you live to play.
