I just recieved a network adapter for my ps2 phat system, but it did not include the setup disk. Is there anyway around setting this up without the setup disk? I have final fantasy xi that I want to give a try, and it tells me to setup my network with setup disc first. :/

FFXI doesn't use the settings file from the Network Adapter disc, it saves its own settings to the HDD, which is done from the main screen of PlayOnline Viewer, before you try to log in. Many online games released later in the PS2's life also have the setup utility built into them, but not FFXI since it uses its own configuration. Network Adapters sold after SOCOM 2 came out did not include the disc because of this.

Also note that the new expansion coming out for FFXI in March is PC/Xbox 360-only outside of Japan. They are only releasing a PS2 disc for it in Japan. Wings of the Goddess and Abyssea also have unfixed bugs for the past 2 years that freeze a PS2 during mission cutscenes. You may want to have a PC version as a backup.

I love my ps2 online. I play every night! Battlefield 2: modern combat has 200 ppl on everday! Dump Sony took off all the SOCOM servers( idiots).
