Google announced their new, free GPS service for cellphones Wednesday, which leads to speculation that this could be a real easy port to the PSP.

We would obviously still need to buy the GPS hardware unit, but a relatively small downloadable piece of software, (maybe even embeded in the PSP's firmware), could give us a functioning GPS PSP at relatively little cost. And without the problems that Go Explore! and it's total lack of map updates poses currently.
It's only for cellphones at the moment, but I certainly wouldn't mind seeing this come to the PSP. How about you?
Here's the link to the original story.

There's already a GPS add on for the PSP.

Read everything before posting.
It's up to Google to possibly bring this over to the PSP system. I'll probably use it for my cell phone, though.

GPS on my psp........i find that, well a tad redundant. I have GPS in my truck, GPS on my phone as well as google maps ETC. I think GPS on PSPs is not a great idea idea being as it would be a pay service as well as purchasing bulky hardware.
Ill stick to my smartphone GPS and in-dash truck GPS. No GPS on PSPs please.

You probably didn't notice the word "free" in the story.
And the GPS unit is sitting on top of the PSP in the picture, it's really not bulky at all.

hmmmmm, no i didnt notice free, too busy looking at the pretty picture lol. But yeah even though its free i think id still pass on it, being as i stated in my prior reply, that i have other means of GPS that are really good and free as well.....plus take up less space, no fuss no muss, know what i mean?

Also, a thing to note, anyone that is currently a PSP Go owner would most likely not get this service, unless they somehow made use of the proprietary port.
thats a good point, if it plugged into the USB up top the GO would need some kind of alternate way to plug in
