Though I only own two BluRays (Resident Evil: Degeneration and Sublime), both work just fine. And all my DVDs work as well. Someone posted that thier copy of FFVII: Advent Children does not work. My copy works just fine. This is just speculative, but your drive maybe on its way out.
At this point it may be prudent to try a brushless lens cleaner, perhaps a PS3 system restore also, but back up your stuff first and remember that not all data can be backed up.
It was a shot in the dark with the defective disk thing.
I have this issue too. The Dark Knight Special Edition's movie disk doesn't play, but its special features disk works. Weird. I tried formatting and starting from scratch, but I still have the same issue. :\ Weird.
same problem here, older bds work, newer not. But I got a hint from another forum: if the PS is warm, the newer disks work, so just use an old disk for 5 minutes and then try again the newer one, I will test this soon...
Same issue here.. PS3 Slim 120 about 2 yrs old.. But it was doing this a long time ago..
It SOMETIMES get's finnicky with discs it's been known to read, but usually doesn't take much to get those working.. But one's it's never been able to read are extremely hard to get working..
This kind of makes me wonder if the discs themselves are just manufactured differently somehow.. The lack of official response on this is a bit troubleing..
Has anyone replaced their laser to resolve this issue at this point? Please post results...
Well, I can confirm Laser replacement works.. And it's EASY!. If your having this issue, it's very likely the laser.
Easy infoformation out there on how to do this yourself.
