Hmm, is their any way to get just YOUR library on the PS3, there is three users on this computer, and just want my library.  Thanks.

Yes, but all others will not be able to share onto other computers.  If that is ok, then you can just goto your Library tab and click "add to library".  There, in that window you will see all other folders that are being shared, just click on the ones you don't want and the select ignore or remove.

Re: HOW TO: Media Sharing between PS3 and WMP11 (Windows Media Player 11) PC

This was discovered by Hamah, and so far most have had great success with it.  I just thought I would post this here incase people were seeking help....

Check Event viewer and look for errors on the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service

If you get the event error 14344 then you need to upgrade your DRM component. (I did not have these errors but followed this process anyway)

You can upgrade the DRM component here:

Though you must be using IE as your browser.

If you encounter DRM issues, cannot upgrade/update your DRM component, or see the grayed out 'Upgrade' buttons on the Security component upgrade page, it may be worth the while to check below link:

DRM Reset Utility - to download go and get this program here

(I had to run this as the upgrade button was grayed out for me.)

Remember to restart your computer after running the utility.

Once you have restarted your PC go back to the DRM component upgrade site:

You should now be able to run the upgrade. Once the upgrade is complete check your 360 and your PC should be there."

Re: HOW TO: Media Sharing between PS3 and WMP11 (Windows Media Player 11) PC

did you ever find a solution to your "Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start" problem?  i have the same problem.  my media server worked just fine at first, something happened and now nothing works.  furthermore when i go in to the services management console application my Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service will not start, and gives me that error.  It's driving me F$%@ing nuts and I don't know how to get it re-started.

Any advice shy of formatting my PC?

Thanks,

Re: HOW TO: Media Sharing between PS3 and WMP11 (Windows Media Player 11) PC

Hi- I'm trying to enable the UPnP settings on my Belkin Wireless G Router. When I click on the Enable button I get this Windows Internet Explorer Error msg.
(Password length(> 3 char))
Why would I get this? My router password is greater than 3 characters and so is my wep key.
Can anyone hep me out with this please?
I run a McAfee firewall. Could this have anything to with not being able to switch on my UPnP at the router?
What changes specifically do I need to make in my McAfee program to enable the UPnP?
Thanks for any help.

Re: HOW TO: Media Sharing between PS3 and WMP11 (Windows Media Player 11) PC

Hello all. This is great Post by the way.

I am having a problem with WMP11 and my ps3. My ps3 showing up as "unknown device" on my computer and is enable to share to.  On my ps3 my computer is showing up, but when i click to look into folder for any kind of media (ie. Music, Pictures, video.) I get an error stating that my ps3 name PS3-098 may not be recognized or something and states to look at my media sharing device setting or something. I will edit later stating what it says exactly....

Updated: Here is what it says.
I get an error message that says "Access to the Media server is not allowed"  "It is possible that the system name has not been registered" "Check the settings for the media server"  Any Ideas?

ANY IDEAS? Thank you so much.

cpcuthbert,

I had the same problem, but i found this website. I got mine up by;
1. Starting "SSDP Discovery Service"
2. Starting "Universal Plug and Play Device Host"
3. Starting "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service" ("HTTP SSL" was already started)

Re: HOW TO: Media Sharing between PS3 and WMP11 (Windows Media Player 11) PC

Well, I have a problem. My PS3 and PC sync up but the PS3 only sees files that I have on my laptop hdd, not the one from my external hdd even though they have already been added to my WMP11 library.
