You get what you paid for. Read the reviews of the game, it's well worth the $20. The lack of online is just a minor set back, which will hopefully be added in later, but $20 is already worth it for the multiplayer.

$20 is a bit steep for me as well, that's around the price for Wipeout HD and I'm not sure about the length of Trine. It looks awesome, I really want it but I think I'm gonna wait for official reviews and reader reviews as well to see how many levels and how deep it is as well.

it could be worth 20 bucks if it had unlockable characters and had online coop
