True 1080p isn't expensive - i think i said earlier my 56" was 1500 CHEAPER than a 56" plasma 720p - no burn ins - 10000:1 contrast ratio - crystal clear image - no worries.
If you get a 720p you'll be watching movies in 480p since BD don't upscale - they downscale - so definately think about what you're buying - that large piece of plastic (your PS3) plays BD movies - why miss out on that? HD-DVD will go the way of the Mini-Disk soon enough - BD has too many companies backing the production of BD players - almost 6 times as many as HD-DVD disks -
Do some research - get some tech mags and compare prices.
Don't automatically think more pixels = more money - or - for that matter - cheaper prices mean inferior products - TV's never look as good in the store as they do at home - you're watching the same video broadcast as a loop through multiple TV's - often times - you'll see a 720 signal through a 1080p TV and looking at it down some aisle from 3 ft away - take a step back - watch a 1080p flick and see for yourself.
No regrets on my DLP - do a search in these forums for DLP vs Plasma - look at what everyone says.
