I want to know how you can put Mario and Zelda above GTA and FF?

GTA has very well written stories. It's kind of amazing how good the writing is in those games. If you play GTA3, VC, SA, LCS, and VCS, it's surprising just how good all of the stories come together and play off of eachother. Only Final Fantasy tops GTA in the writing department, but that really applies only to the pre-FFX games.
How does Mario have a good story? First game: Princess kidnapped. Rescue her. Second game: more of the same. US SMB2: Mario having a trippy dream about a toad thats allergic to veggies. SMB3: Princess kidnapped, Bowser's kids in on it, rescue princess. SMW: Princess kidnapped, Bowser's kids in on it again, rescue princess. SM64: Bowser takes over castle, traps everyone in walls and paintings, rescue them. SMS.. ugh don't even get me started on how you're Super Mario Maid, cleaning the island.

Zelda: OoT and Wind Waker were both rehashes of the SNES story. I haven't read the Twightlight Princess story yet, but I would imagine it has something to do with aa villian named Gannon (or Gannondorf) and something with aTriforce and Link is a just a regular, unlikely hero who ends up being the hero.

Hmmm. I wish I could really put my finger on one game. So I'll list a few that I felt had cool storylines:

1. Half Life 1 & 2 /eps.1

2. God of War

3. Golden Sun (Gameboy Advance)

4. Ninja Gaiden (NES)

5. Beyond Good & Evil

6. MGS series.

geez I forgot about the Ninja Gaiden series....the tradgedy behind that

there are so many i dont even want to start because I would be skipping alot of them.....SOCOM 1 was a great storyline because it was onnovative with the use if headsets for single player action.

HALF LIFE series is awesome as well....good call Clinton

Uh dude, I was just listing my favorite games series in any order.  I never said that the Mario and Zelda series were better, they were just the first two games I thought of.
