Usually its much more worth it to get a new one then upgrade it especialy since the one you have now is a dell.

your better off buying a computer with a good processor about $400 and buy more ram and a good video card and a 500w power supply. total about $700

a new proccessor is about 400

You can upgrade a Dell.  I had that model, and upgraded the vid card with an nvida GEforce 5500 PCI 256MB RAM and upgraded the RAM to 1Gig.  You have to change some settings in the BIOS to make the PC stop using the built-in video card.

What you talking about, the E6400 is 220 and can overclock to be on par with a x6800.

the 5500 PCI is too much trouble for a pc like that, because the PCI bandwith limits you and the 5500 is already old, he needs at least a 6 Series or higher to be in an okay range.

Just save up and buy a good computer when you can because at this day and age upgrading old computers are are tremendous waste of money because computers are changing so fast.
