old questions

i just replied to a 4 year old  question  not knowing till after it was a four year old question is there a reason they keep them so long or maybe it's there so peaple with same problem  dont have to ask question over again thats probably  it

Its archived I believe....

 

And I would think they keep them for that reason as you stated...

 

You use the search function and pin point the thread that relates to your problem.

Actually Speedy if it had been in the archives the OP would not have been able to respond to it.

 

To the OP, yes I think you're right, although personally I'm not sure a 4, 3 or even a 2 year old Thread should still be around if it's inactive.

I seen the section Archives but never went in there.

It's acceptable if someone brings up an old thread for an update, a correction, or some other useful and meaningful reply.  But if it's just "lol" or "wow" then it's a blatant bump. Bumping disrupts the normal flow of information on a forum.  It's a form of spamming.
