obscenely expensive Magic card

13 replies 138 views Edited Oct 19, 2013

The seller attempts to rationalize such an excessive amount of money for a piece of paper... but I just can't see how this is worth SO MUCH. The community for this card game has built this up to be some god card... and it is when used right, but the thing is you would NEVER use this to keep it in perfect conditon and to retain its value, so in my mind... you're paying for the idea of what it can do.. and nothing more.

The T206 Honus Wagner rookie card is worth around $2 million (depending on the condition). Card collecting is a hobby that has been around for about a century. I was an avid sports card collector for years but I haven't really been keeping up with it as much lately. My collection is still pretty solid though.

There are 291 offers on that card, I kind of wonder what people offered, if you click it everyone was declined. Not sure who would pay that much, but if that card is truly that rare I guess there are people that would pay it, not sure what the value of magic cards are. Although if it is truly the only one of it kind, it could be valuble.

I had a feeling that Black Lotus would be the card in question before opening this thread. I was not wrong.

Black Lotus is pretty much the staple card of the M:tG card series. The type of card Black Lotus is was only printed in limited quantities, it's usage is really good (it makes everything you use better), and supply and demand for such an iconic and useful card has hiked up the prices to absurd levels.

Believe me when I say that Black Lotus won't go down in price any time soon, so if you want one, you need to be willing to fork over this kind of money.
