I have a 1st gen. Nano, too. The highest it's been dropped from is 5½ feet, and still survived.

omg I have a first gen nano, and its like indestructable, idk why its diff than everyone elses, I've literally slammed mine to the hard tile floor hard, and all that happened was a dented corner, and my friend actually took it outta my hand put it on the road, and scraped it all over the road with his foot, he also ran it over. my ipod still works tho :] and my ex actually took a paperclip and scraped at it for a while. my ipod is in really bad shape, but it still works great, except the buttons stick sometimes....lol here is a pic of it..

there were stickers all over it, thats why there are resedue of stickers lol
