The language comes in useful when native Mexicans in Mexico may start thinking I'm of another race and I scare them by saying "Cuanto por eso? Esta bien, gracias." while calling my brother a menso, estupido, baboso and a bunch of other words that I won't say for the sake of others. I grew up speaking spanish. Throughout my middle school and junior high school years in Santo Domingo, I'd to take english and french as part of our class schedule. We didn't learn much, just simple stuff, like common phrases, words, numbers, etc... . It wasn't till the age of 15 that I was faced with the necessity of having to learn english.
