It basically means that things spoken by your enemies carry far less weight with you as an individual than things said, or not said, by those who are supposed to be your friends.

I am a bit of a Quote fan.

 

It always seems important people have important wisdom to pass on.  That, and they get heard more.  I find, even when you come up with an original thought, if it is really good, people don't believe it is yours.
