Not really a motto, but I say "old enough to count, old enough to mount" as a joke

If I could write my mentality/nteraction-with-the-world in a nice quote, it would be like this:

Treat others as you would like to be treated.

I'm 100% sure there's a quote about that by some famous person, but that's how I live my life. 98.9% of it. I always think: "how would I feel?". Is this way of living life noble? Foolish? Well, I guess that's up for debate.

Here is a few I remind myself of when I need to "keep swimming" :smileyhappy:

A wolf does not lose sleep over the opinion of sheep

Life is better with sound effects added

It's easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission

Do you have a particular adage that you live by? Is there a proverb out there that you find rings true? Do these mottos, maxims, and whatnot define you? Are they just guidelines? Or do they just sound cool?

Until recently, I thought I had two mottos that worked well for me. However, after thinking on them for a bit, I realized that no, I've outgrown them.

A motto that was recently passed on to me via a hilarious series of events that you won't find at all amusing (it's not serious, just not that funny), is

Poise and control.

Naturally, maintain your composure at all times, and always be in control, whether it's of yourself or the situation. It's something I'm going to try and keep in the back of my mind from now on.

What's yours?
