Bubblegum **bleep**, by Marina and the Diamonds. If I had to pick just one song that stole my heart in 2012, this would have to be it.
Hard to nail down one song from her album. I love "Teen Idle", "Valley of the Dolls", "Starring Role", "The State of Dreaming" and "Lies" but I enjoy the others on the album as well. All around, it's really solid album.
Carry the Fire by Delta Rae was also a surprising album to me:
I probably need to venture out more from my 'comfort' genre(s) and artists. I'll listen to the same album for months and just keep an eye out for what's new from particular artists. I rarely seem to pick up new ones unless I catch a music video on VH1 or hear a song in a trailer/commercial and track down who it is.
I agree, the entire album is just beautiful. I can't really say I disliked any of the songs on the album, some get played more depending on the day, but its one of those cd's that I can say I love as a whole instead of one or two songs, which is a fairly rare thing for me. Part of the reason I picked Bubblegum **bleep** out of all the other tracks on the album is due to it being the first song off the album I heard. I'm glad to meet someone else who enjoys Marina's music!
I didn't notice you had posted Delta Rae until after I posted- but we seem to have (thusfar) similier tastes in music slash hahah.
