Y are people obsessed with sales?

10 replies 133 views Edited Jul 20, 2013

Honestly, people are always arguing what console sold better. NONE of that actually matters!!  Look at the wii, it had the most sales and alot of the games ended up sucking.  Sales mean almost nothing.  The only importance they have is install base for third party developers.  The only sale that is important is the one in my living room..

Because numbers are measurable (duh) and firm. Everyone understands them, and the fact that number X is bigger than Y means they're the single best tool in an arguement, especially since gamers are typically a fickle and petty bunch.

Not to mention that the console that sells better arguably has more money to put back into its services, licenses, and so on.  A good year for Sony will translate on some level to a good year for Sony fans.

More sales means more developers will develop for it.

Many people in my opinion think that what sales are more popular must mean the game is good. If the sales keep up for a while and people say they like it then the sales may matter. Otherwise they only matter in the record books and the CEO's check book.

Ehh. It is more that people like high sales because it means more people will experience a game that they feel deserves to be experienced.

It also is a stupid war over the size of their genitals. Over the internet.

the weekly sales are actually almost inverse that of the lifetime sales. When lifetime and weekly sales drastically change, there is often a wekness that is exposed with the consoles.

The stats go as this

The wii is in last place with the weekly sales even though it is leading the lifetime consoles. The wii is a console that had a very strong start to this generation mainly due to the motion control fad that has died off a few years back.

The PS3 is leading the weekly sales and like we all know has passed xbox 360 in lifetime sales as of almost 2 months ago. The ps3 was more expensive to start and struggled to get off the ground in its first year with its few exclusives.

xbox360 had a 1 year head start and many still think online gaming is better than that of PS3, but the red ring of death incidents probably caused its sales to drop and make the PS3 sales gains. Correct me if I am wrong between the PS3 and the 360.

I think your info is right but as a PS3 user there is also the YBLOD( Yellow Blinking light of death). It is similar but you can still use the system. It means something internally is wrong.
