Can someone find something on the 'net about why clock speed doesen't matter all that much and post a link for me?

Why would you need proof even though all the benchmarks out there show that Core 2 Duo is slower in ghz yes but is more powerful then the faster p4?

Well I just wanna see an explanation. I'm not saying they aren't the best, but I wanna know exactly why.

In the simplest possible terms, what matters isn't just the raw GHz, but also how much actual work gets done per clock cycle. The P4 is designed to have as many GHz as possible, but it doesn't use them efficiently. Think of Intel clock cycles as government road crews leaning on their shovels when they should be working. Conversely, though AMD processors have fewer clock cycles, their's are hard workers, and though there are fewer of them, they take care of business. But this has changed since the Core 2 Duo proves this point.

I was just stating that the core 2 duo's #s were lower.
I didn't know that clock speed didnt matter as much.

If you plan to use it for gaming then ya it won't be that good. For simple stuff like the internet, messenging etc, it will be fine and should work well.

You do know that the Celeron is a low cut version of the Pentium D and 4 right? I'm having trouble running Itunes, firefox and AIM on a P4 @3.4ghz.
