Yes, it is a laptop processor and it can't be used in a desktop

Actually, they can The motherboard just has to support it. The Turion64 and Turion64 X2 lines are pretty popular among people who like to build super cool and small PCs. They're not as fast as Core 2 Duos but I can tell you from experience that they run fast and very cool and quiet

top one, by far. but, it doesn't come with a heatsink..
unless its a gift for someone you don't like, then get the bottom one

The Dual Core is for laptops and the M is for desktops. But any dual-core is usually better.

Yeah but the Pentium M uses less power. As for putting it inside a laptop make sure the bios is able to support it. Even though it may have the same socket, the bios might not be up to date to recognize it.
