What is a handling fee?

12 replies 4 views Edited Jan 10, 2007
I am buying an item off of ebay and I saw that the item was located in the same city where I live, so I messaged the seller to ask them if I could pick it up and they said yes, there will be a $10 handling charge. What does that mean?

Storage, packaging, employee overhead, listing costs? Think about it.

For anyone here who has actualy ever sold things on ebay (and I dont mean your used baseball bats, I mean like a full scale perpetuating business), you would fully understand the need for a handeling cost.

So its just basically a fee for them to charge to hold the item for me instead of shipping it right like storage? They want $25 to ship the item so it just takes the place of the shipping fee?
