What I hate most about Windows. Is it fixable?

21 replies 4 views Edited Jan 3, 2007
Ok, take a glance at this scenario:

I'm typing in AIM, and then I decide I want to open Firefox. So I hit the shortcut on my keyboard to open Firefox. It might take a while to open cause I'm doing a lot of stuff on my computer, so I go back to AIM and continue typing. Then all of a sudden firefox opens and it becomes the current highlighted window (even though I have AIM set to be on top of everything). AIM was still on the top, but Firefox became the current active window. This happens all the time with other programs and whatnot too. I am trying to click stuff on a website, and then finally my other program or windows opens, and it automatically makes the newly opened window become the active one. Is there anywhere deep inside the Windows XP settings to change this? To keep the current active window to stay current, no matter what else opens (even if its a little error windows that opens)...

Thanks...and hopefully some of you know what I'm talking about, and are just as frustrated about it as I.
Oh, and just to let you know, this isn't part of my sig.

Heeeey...that is a part of your sig!

As far as I know, there's no solution to this annoying problem. I guess we have to go through the tedious task of removing our hands from the keyboard and clicking the AIM window

But yeah, when my binded shortcuts interrupt a conversation I'm having it's just one more straw on the camel's back. I feel your pain

Yep, I can verify that. The macs at work dont do it either. I was browsing the folders in a window, opened a program, and the program actually opened behind the window I was browsing in!
