This story is still developing, but so far it's been reported that two explosions were set off near the finish line.

This is surreal because I walk on that street all the time - I know exactly where that area is. Nobody knows the cause of the explosions yet.

I'm currently working 15 minutes from the location.   I've had some text images come in before all outgoing cell traffic was shut down, there is blood on the street and lots of bad injuries.

At least one death and dozens injured, missing limbs.

My heart goes out to Boston, those who died, those hurt, and everyone else who is affected. This is a terrible day beyond description, and while I'm personally very saddened, I know we're strong enough to make it through.

Why would they merge my thread? Don't be selfish, mods!

I don't see how it's selfish, but anyway...I asked them to when my thread had no replies and this one had over 10 Smiley Tongue.  Eventually both of them were pretty active.

Does anyone think somehow down the road new laws will be made or existing laws will be altered due to this event?

Genius idea...we should have made a rule, no blowing people up... man, ya, that would have prevented this.

depends on the outcome of this event. like who was responsible and what was used to make the bombs.

but its safe to say that marathons and similar events will now have tighter security and limits to what spectators on the sidelines can have with them.
