The World's End

9 replies 162 views Edited Aug 24, 2013

Just saw the final fllm in the Three Cornettos Trilogy, The World's End. Overall, I would highly recommend it.

The film is largely a sci-fi, with an incredibly healthy helping of comedy on the side, and those who enjoy one or both of those genres will have a blast here. Having seen Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz will net you only more appreciation for this film, as there are plenty of nods to the previous Cornetto films, but they never outstay their welcome, functioning solely as *wink*wink*nudge*nudge* moments.

My only qualm would have to be the last act. Some fairly heartfelt and almost dark revelations are made about one of the characters, yet much of the feeling in that scene is squandered by a somewhat contrived and convenient (but nonetheless hilarious) conflict resolution, and an ending that, while appropriate for the end of the trilogy, doesn't quite satisfy.

8.5/10

I would have seen it yesterday had the local movie theater shown it. Im a huge fan of the first two films, so Im incredibly disappointed that I wont be able to watch it for a while. Glad you enjoyed it, though!

You poor soul.

He heard a voice from God and it said, “George, separate the peanut into its elements; you will find cures and delicious snacks."
