Tech question that may have been asked before.

18 replies 86 views Edited Jul 8, 2013

Just got a new 70 inch tv, it has a message box that appears at the top that gives the resolution. When I boot up the ps3 it say 1080p but everytive I load a game up it sets back to 720 no matter the game. Not that its a big deal but was wondering why it does this and if there is a way to bypass it? Appreciate it.

Few games for the ps3 are set to run at 1080P. Even if your TV can go that high, it will not upscale the games. This will likley change once this next gen of games gets going.

Bypass going to 720p?

The thing is, most games play at 720p max...very few can run at 1080p (especially not MP games). PS3 hardware limitation; it is 7 years old, before 1080p because a big thing (I think...I really don't care about graphics as long as it looks good...)

I think most PS4 games are supposed to support 1080p.

ironically, a lot of older games were 1080P, I think the devs were cutting cost, or just not bothering with it. MGS4, and some of the older demos I recall were 1080P

Its supposed to say "became" not "because"...

Don't forget, Blu-ray wasn't a big thing when the PS3 came out either (one reason why the thing had a $600 price tag...). Doesn't mean there weren't games that supported 1080p, just that it wasn't as big deal if they could or not (nowhere near as many people had TVs that could support 1080p back then as there are now>
