Two reasons.

1. That kind of money doesn't last forever.  60 year old strippers don't make a lot of coin.  ...or so I hear...

2. Nobody aspires to be a stripper.  People want to be doctors, technicians, lawyers, managers, and other professions where you need a college degree.

This isn't the sort of thing you brag openly about.  You do it only as long as you have to, and then get a respectable job.  Something you can tell Aunt Irma about.  While in college you can always say you're still going to classes.  After that, then what?  And what if you want to start a family?  Guys are attracted to strippers, but not as marriage material.  Can you imagine if you were married and your wife went out for four hours a night to strip for strangers?  "Honey, I want you to stop working at the strip club..."

They went through all this a few years ago on How I Met Your Mother.  Barney wanted to marry a stripper and the obvious problems became inescapable.

at $180,000 a year.. that's like 3-5 times the average salary for the middle class..

i don't know what other people make.. but that's amount is definately at LEAST 3x more than me in a year...  i could work for 3-4 years.. to make the same amount they make in 1 year.. Smiley Indifferent

how old are these women?  they probably earned more  in a few years than most people .. without a degree...

unless they burned it all on something useless..they can have an easy life after they stopped working as  strippers.. ..

i think even working at $10/hr with full benefits will be enough for them.. if they have a huge amount money saved up and put it to good use..   just don't spend it all in one place..

You know, in my country you actually get paid to study in university.

I can't help it. Our education system is better. But there's a catch. Getting in is awfully difficult. Money doesn't get you in, but motivation and knowledge. I actually should be studying as we speak eheh... Smiley Embarassed

isn't that what they called SCHOLARSHIP/GRANT.. etc.. ?

there are places that will PAY for your education and then also guarantee you a job position at their location

my tuition and book costs were all paid for by the BANNER HEALTH system.. during my last 3 years of high school (because of them i graduated high school with 40 something college credits.. which helped cut my # of years in college shorter and i got out early..

http://www.bannerhealth.com/

but this was more than 8-9 years ago..  before their name was Samaritan health or something

i heard they still have the same program.. but this time it's not a guarantee (where you have the option of work or not working for them).. but it's a CONTRACT now..  last i heard...  not sure if it's true..

but still that's a great deal!!  all tuition and book costs paid.. and then a job right when you got out? what else do people want??

I'm afraid I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to US scholarships, but no, it's not the same kind of deal.

It's a normal university, but here it's free for students ( It's paid with tax money ). And no job is guaranteed, unfortunately.

The acceptance in this thread is starting to make me nauseous...

You boys have fun with your strippers...

I'll keep getting classy women to strip for me in private for free...

You assume that they save that money and that they average that money. Strippers do not make $180,000 a year. And Jason put it a good way- they are probably more than strippers. Also, strippers will not last to 40.

Re: Stripping to Pay For College

I personally know a girl who began stripping / doing pornography in order to pay for Med-school.

Last I heard, she has stopped. Hopefully she is in Med-school now, but I have no idea.
