Something I found...

7 replies 2 views Edited Dec 4, 2006
1x0 = 0
2x0 = 0

1x0 = 2x0   right?

1x0 = 2x0  simplify.

1 = 2

Found that in math class today.

to get rid of em, you would have to divide by 0, in which case you would get 1 =1

Stop hurting my brain. I don't think you can cancle those out as the X simbolizes multiplication and is not a variable.

and even if it were using the 1x0 = 2x0 to be 1·x·0 = 2·x·0 it would simplify as this equation:

1·x·0 = 2·x·0
1·0·x = 2·0·x
0x = 0x
x = x

that's a mighty definitive answer, IMO

This is typically why an equation doesn't contain the same variable on both sides, with no other variable, or no solveable equation on one side

It doesn't take any math to undestand that 1 does not equal 2.
