I'm not going to get too bogged down by the terminology but, as I understand the terms, I like most types of metal, the more brutal the better. Groups like mastodon, meshuggah, lamb of god, gojira and so on.
Also big into industrial, EBM, future pop and similar genres. Also got a thing for, what I think is, dream pop, trip hop and atmospheric rock. Also like classic rock like pink Floyd and such.
I like some punk but more aggressive stuff like dead Kennedy's and black flag.

I have a pet peeve against male singers who sound like whiny **bleep** in pseudo metal. You know the type, who sound like blink 182 or something. The only groups I ever heard that did that style right are Horse The Band and Dillenger Escape Plan (not their singles though, their singles suck). I also hate nu metal. Metal/hard rock from the late 90s and early 00 is some of the worst.
Like early Metallica, as well as other classics like slayer, megadeth, and Pantera.

I love JRPGs, but hate anime... Is that legal?

I like music that doesn't suck. You may disagree on the specifics, but all of my favorite music is actually really good.

Metal and Hard Rock for me. But I'm sure some of you already knew that from the "What Music Are You Listening To Right Now?" thread  Smiley Wink

Everyone believes that, regardless of the truth.

Well, if you like it, the truth is it's good music, right? It's not as if there's some definitive set of rules that defines what is good music or not.

No, not really. Whether or not you like something is irrelevant to its quality, espeically in regards to music.
