Hey everyone, i want to buy a media device that is pretty much a mini tablet that fits in you pocket. I'm not afan of apple so i want an android, and on Ebay i saw quite a few for cheap but has bad esn. Can i still use the phone with the bad esn problem? i will not be getting service from a carrier on the phone, just to use for music/apps/webs and maybe pinger. the phone is the Galaxy Nexus.

I believe it means that it cant be activated, but does that mean i can use it without putting it with a service provider?

A Bad ESN means that the phone was permabanned from the carrier. This means you will never ever going to get this phone activated on a service provider.

That said, if you want to use this phone as a mini tablet, go ahead. As long as you have connection to WiFi, you can use this phone like a tablet. I got two phones from Verizon (Samsung Droid Charge) that have Bad ESNs and I sometimes use them for little apps and games via WiFi.

Just be warned: A phone can be banned for being reported as stolen. Be sure to pay with paypal so you can prove the purchase should any legal issues arise.
