Netflix and microsoft join forces? XBOX MOVIES?

10 replies 1 views Edited Mar 27, 2007
hmmm....apparently the CEO of netflix has joined the board of directors of microsoft. This might not seem like big news but consoder that netflix has a watch now option on their website that offers thousands of movies available to watch immediately on your PC...AT NO EXTRA COST! Currently this service only works on PCs with windows XP, and Netflix has stated beofre that they are looking into way to get movies to all screens.

Could a Netflix / Xbox  movie  download project be in the works?

That would be sweet seeing as how I am already a a subscriber to both services. I would love to be able to access my queue from my xbox and watch movies immediately.

While that is in itself awesome news, I wish microsoft would work on expanding other media. Like their music player for the 360 is existent, but I feel it sucks. They should better improve it. Have available downloads of music to the 360, which will sync the music to all computers in the house. Other than that kudos to Microsoft for a job well done.

Doesn't Microsoft already have a movie service on Xbox LIVE? A pretty good one from what I hear about it.

they do but it's only like 50-100 titles. netflix just started their watch now program and it's already over 1000 titles and they plan on having at least 5000 by the end of the year.(this includes old stuff and foreign films too not just newly released hollywood blockbusters) plus netflix is only 9.99 for one movie at a time and 10 hours of watch now time. Much better than what microsoft currently offers. If they can bring that to the xbox, this could be big. Netflix has been talking about offering a set top box that would give subscribers instant access to their movies and make them viewable on your tv. The xbox might end up being that set-top box. The only thing... they probably won't get rights to offer sony owned movies. but oh well there are a ton of other movies out there.
