Extremely sad. I believe the second Hatchet book told exactly what he should of done, stay put. However, setting the tires on fire for heat was a good idea. I'm impressed he was able to start the tires on fire in the first place. A lighter alone, is not enough to catch the tire on fire.

He was a CNet editor and the father of the family that went missing a few days ago.  The family turned up a few days ago, but he wasn't anywhere to be found.

oh, is there a theory on the motive of the person who did this?

The snow did it.

...I STILL don't understand what makes him so important as opposed to anyone else.  Lots of people die and a lot of them tragically.  It's sad but....it happens all the time.

What I personally find so amazing, are the decisions that the parent(s) made. Common sense would tell you, if you're lost, you stay put! For James to leave on his own, out in the bitter cold, weak from hunger, etc, etc, he practically wrote his own death warrant right there. I mean, where the hell did he think he was going? What was his big game plan? Did he think he would become some hero and save the day? He and his wife made a lot of stupid decisions.

QFT. I mean I am reading all these posts about people getting teary eyed for this guy like he is above everybody else. Maybe it is because he is asian and we are on a messege board of an asian company.

I saew one guy go as far as to say this hurts him worse than if a relative or classmate would have died.
