Is there something I can buy to.....?

6 replies 23 views Edited Sep 28, 2008
So I play bass and I've been wanting to play stuff thats heavier but I can barely even tune my bass to D without the strings rattiling and I need to be in drop c which is even lower. So is there like some kind of pedal i can get that will change the sound of my bass from standard E tuning to drop c or do I just need to get a new bass that can handle it?

Try adjusting your action so they don't buzz on the frets when you tune it down that low. Take it to a pro, they can set it up for you.

I know what you mean. Like i can do that with drop d but just playing the string open on c or c# it rattles on the frets cause it has so much slack or something

I guess you can buy a pitch shifter.

maybe switching the string gauge would help

hmmmm, I'm not really framiliar with bass so I'm just going with guitar knowledge here, so it probably mostly applies. Would adjusting your truss rod help at all, to get some more distance maybe? I wouldnt really try that without going to a pro though.
