Re: Integrity test

I'm not working anywhere that has a cash register or I have to be cleaning!

But ya those are pretty specific. I doubt it'd be realistically possible to find it on the same place as the bus, so I'll do a little calculations, take the bus the same time and try to find the person. If not I'll probably return it to the transit people's lost and found, or tell them I have it.

Work place I'd definitely just report it.

Re: Integrity test

It's a shame, but who are you going to take it to?  The cops?

The money is unmarked, unlabeled, and unprovable in who owns it.  Anyone could say it belongs to them, and assuming I am the one to find it, even I could say it belonged to me if it came down to it.  This is incredibly stupid handling of a large amount of cash and while my natural response is to feel bad for the idiot who lost this cash, I'm going to keep it because there is absolutely no reasonable way to locate the owner of the money.  Even if it had a name scrawled onto the envelope, I could make an attempt at locating the owner, but I've got nothing, so why in the world would I?

I'm keeping the money, maybe as a sign of good faith, I'd donate a percentage to a good charity, but I'm using it to help improve my life and my families life.

Guess what I would keep it!!!

The person who lost it was irresponsible, they deserve it.

Nope, not really. It goes to show what every good samartian does, do the right thing.

Really Speedy, I'm surprised. What would you do with the money?

Could have fingerprint tests done on the envelope. That would be ridiculous for like $20, but $5000? Not unheard of.

I wouldn't expect a reward, especially not if the person wasn't rich. Probably would have been using the money to pay off their mortgage or buy stuff for their house or something. And even if they weren't, it's none of my business.

No you couldn't.  You know how many times the average set of bills has been handled?  You won't get any sort of conclusive results on any of those bills, regardless of how many there are.

Unless it had my name on it I would say I would return it or drop it by a police station.

However, it is my opinion that anyone who answers this question is giving their best guess on any given day with any given set of situations based on their perception of themselves. I'm just saying that, in my opinion, it is impossible to 100% know for sure no matter how you view yourself.

We're touching the ATM envelope, not the bills themselves. It's totally possible.
