It is a blessing that this cancer is low grade and can be treated. I wish the best for you and your mother.

I got some disturbing news just now. My mother just found out she has cancer. A couple days ago she fainted and fell in the bathtub and she assumed that it was some medication from her dental visit that she was given. She went to the hospital and the doctors said they found a mass in her uterus. Some suggested it might be a fiboid but won't know until the test results come in.

Today those test results came in and it appears to be cancer. From what I gathered from talking on the phone, it appears to be a low grade and nothing to be worry about but now she needs surgery which will involve removing her uterus or whatever needs to remove. Now my mother is in her 50's but I can't imagine her going through kemo or anything like that.

At this point, there is a lot of uncertainty of what will happen and I am not sure of what can be done.

I quess what I am asking is  for some positive encouragement not just for me but for my mother. That would be appreciated. Maybe if she saw this she would feel better and know she isn't alone in these times. I just thinkg she needs all the positiveness to combat these times. I want say thank you in advance for anything you have to offer.Heart

Ouch!  That sucks, FR.  50 is too young for stuff like that.

Now all I can picture is Walter white on Breaking Bad, getting told he has cancer just after he turned 50.  The doctor said "cancer" and everything became background noise.

I've seen some friends go through cancer.  I will say they've gotten better at treating it in the last few decades.  But still, it's an awful, painful, grueling process.  You're going to need to be there for your mother whenever possible.  She's going to need your strength.  Seriously, you need to be a rock for her.  She needs it.

FreshRevenge I usually don't tell people much about my personal life but I think I should share with you a bit here.   My wife had uterine cancer not too long ago, something very similar happened with her as you describe with your mom, she got lightheaded and fell.     They found a mass in her uterus and she ended up having to get surgery and have everything removed.   She is ok now, we can't have kids but she is alive and healthy again.

Mine is a bit younger than your mom but not too much younger, your mom should be fine.  I hope my girl's story helps ease your mind.

First off, for those who have responded. I value your comments and appreciate them. I spent some time with my mother and we all feel positive about the out come but we are still nervous about the upcoming surgery.

@PLYMCO_PILGRIM, sorry to hear about that about your wife. I hope that you may had children before? If not than adoption is an option. You don't need need to discuss that here.

I think the initial shock of it has wore off but now it is just taking it step by step.Yet my mother may keep thinking about it. I know I would if it were me. I just wish that it would be a like a videogame because I would of already beaten it and save the day.

FR, I lost my father to prostate cancer.  Its a long and hard road ahead for everybody involved but you're mom is lucky.  They can operate on her, they can treat this.  She has a good chance.  Give her the support she needs, and spend as much time with her as you can.  Weekends, holidays, soome random tuesday in may, whatever.  Be there for her as much as you can.  She needs that MORE then anything.
