Headphones while driving?

15 replies 1 views Edited Dec 12, 2006
I know some people who drive with them in, and I do from time to time on the highway.  But what I was wondering is what your take on it is, do you think its safe?  Or is it just like listening to the radio?

My take is that its kinda like listening to loud music, (which I do anyway) but i don't really want anyone to see me, cause they might think I'm a reckless teen driver.

I dont think its safe at all because with the headphones in your ears you are more likely to not notice what is going on around you and have a better chance of drifting away and also if there is a cop or ambulence coming you could be in trouble...

I think thats a major distraction..... patch your iPod through your Stereo by using an FM tuner or even a Cassette Adaptor

It's actually illegal in my state (Alabama) to have them on whilst driving. You can't hear anything going on around you, especially if they're noise-cancelling earbuds. I know you can (although rarely) get a ticket for having your radio up way too loud.

That just sounds like a bad idea. Radio is no distraction but you can hear other things around you at least. That's one of the reasons why the police/ambulance/fire departments have sirens to complement the lights. I'd advise against wearing headphones, if anything, use just one if possible.
