You shoot them and they explode.

Looks much better but the textures aren't any better.

The textures aren't the finalized, hi-res versions. They're just the "put these on there, because without them, it's all gray" textures.

I hope so. So far nothing has impressed me with Halo 3's graphics. Nothing is final yet, but they are releasing the Beta soon (which I'm a part of) and they need to get those new graphics rolling, no?

For the big things, such at M.C, and the vehicles, they will probably have the Hi-Res textures. Everything else, they may scale down, in order to decrease file size. The polygon count it still high though, so that's good.

I doubt they will scale down the graphics... if they do people won't be as excited about it and think about Gears of War. They'll just keep the number of weapons, vehicles, and maps low.

They wouldn't scale down the graphics, as in the polygons. They would just use throw-in textures for the things that don't matter as much. People will still want Halo 3. And Bungie knows that.

What's the point of spending so much time and effort on a game, then releasing a huge public beta and not finishing the textures?

They are most likely finished. They just bulk up file-size. Look, I'm just speculating on this. I know for a fact that the screenies don't have finalized textures, but I have no idea about the game.

I doubt the textures are their biggest problems Smiley Tongue.
